About a year and a half ago (on an unexpectedly dreary and blustery April day, as I do remember well), a semi truck rolling in from Canada and laden with vintage wallpaper parked its wheels in our driveway and opened its trailer door. And on that day, shivering under layers of sweaters and jackets and hats and gloves, we unloaded 16 palettes packed tightly and spilling over with truly remarkable retro wallpaper.
Sorting through new collections of vintage wallpaper is always a consuming process, and this one was no exception. In fact, with over 2,000 rolls of paper in this one load, it required even more time than most. Yet finally, after months and months of sorting, processing, cataloging, and photographing, we can eagerly announce that all of this fantastic retro wallpaper is now available to view and purchase!
We've posted quite a few patterns here and there on our Retro Wallpaper Etsy store throughout the last year and shared a lot of them on Facebook, but with even more patterns posted in greater quantities on our website, we really do have the largest and best selection of 60s and 70s vintage wallpaper on the web!
These papers come from Canada, which means they are actually more European in design. They look totally different than 60s and 70s American wallpapers, having sharper lines, unique layers of shape and pattern, and a nuance of color that makes them distinct.
Here is a sampling of the Canadian Retro Wallpapers that we have available on our website:
This pattern is captivating to me because of its layers of shapes -- there are hearts within hearts, circles within flowers, flowers within hearts, etc. Plus the neon-like green used in this paper is notably unique!
love the variation of flowers and leaves and the subtle square tiles that gently constrain these wild flowers
feeling lucky with this retro design, no doubt!
cathedral style and stained glass prints are coming back hot!
I love the layers of different prints within the flower petals and leaves--so cool!
such an awesome retro color combo
a very cool pattern and we have it in three colorways-- brown, orange, and green
the exaggerated brushstroke design makes these daisies look cheerful and carefree
this awesome pattern is both neutral and eye-catching, a clever combo for dramatic yet adaptable walls
fantastic color choices here -- tangerine, teal, bright green and blush pink
another good one for the retro game room
These 20 retro papers are only a taste; we have many more like them on our website and in our etsy store, Retro Wallpaper. To see our whole retro collection, check out the 1960s & 1970s section of our website or browse by category to look at florals, geometrics, or damasks specifically.
